Other types of matters handled in his public school law practice include: advice on student rights issues including special education, privacy rights and records; real estate transactions such as selling surplus property, real estate titles, purchase agreements, acquiring property by donation, negotiating leases and contracts, handling insurance coverage questions, public construction law, public bid laws, and the litigation of many and varied claims and issues ranging from contract disputes to constitutional law issues and civil rights.
Rob has extensive experience litigating matters in state and federal courts for private clients. Some of the matters handled include Real Estate (sales, leases, evictions, donations, redhibition, mortgages, closings), Family Law, Wills and Successions, Corporations, Private Construction Law, Tort, Contractual Obligations, Tax Sales, Constitutional Law, Appellate Practice and Arbitration and Mediation.
Also encompassed within Rob’s practice is experience in drafting and interpreting design contracts for architectural and engineering services, litigation, arbitration and mediation of construction claims or disputes, and the resolution of public bid law and surety bond issues. Other construction matters handled include: claims for delay, defects and deficient work, defective construction documents, disputes over site conditions and professional liability.
A native and life long resident of New Orleans and now residing in Birmingham, Rob is an alumnus of John F. Kennedy Senior High School, New Orleans, Louisiana. He earned a degree in psychology from Southern Illinois University in 1973, was awarded a Masters of Social Work degree from Tulane University in 1976 and graduated from Tulane Law School in 1982. He has been a member of the Construction Owners of America, Inc. and has been a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Sections on: Civil Law and Litigation; Fidelity, Surety and Construction Law; and, Governmental and Public Law. He has also been a member of the American Bar Association’s Section on Public Contract Law and Forum on the Construction Industry, the ABA’s new Section for Construction Owners and of the Section on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law.
Rob has also been very active in civic organizations. He is a past President of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater New Orleans and of the Travelers Aid Society. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Public Schools Scholarship Foundation and has served on the Boards of the Jewish Children’s Regional Service and Willowwood Home for the Jewish Aged. Rob also completed the training to become a tutor for Louisiana’s high stakes test for students.
